West Haddon to Woodford Halse
DAY NINETEEN: West Haddon to Woodford Halse (26 June 2021)
Fantastic ride today and I was inspired by the Northamptonshire countryside which provides manageable hills and green space. Many years ago I had spent some time walking Northamptonshire's lanes as I trained for a 84-mile 24-hour walking race so I shouldn't have been surprised at its beauty. I guess it is one of those over-looked counties sitting as it does in the middle of the country. A county you pass through from Cambridge to Oxford or London to York.
Distance: 40 km (25 miles)
Ascent: 330 m
Legs: OK, squeezing in a casual 10 mile bike ride on a rest day was planned and good to be without my beloved trailer for a short spell
A short ride to Long Buckby to meet a friend, a 10 mile bike ride for fun, then another ride to the next campsite on a farm near Woodford Halse in Northamptonshire.

In coming out of my way I am rewarded with excellent company, bike tour of the area, shower and BBQ at a friends and could not thank him and his wife enough. I only wish I'd accepted the offer of a doggy bag to take away.
Today is the last meet-up and at day's end I have two days to go and feel like its time to be making for home rather than meandering around England's lanes. I recall a spray painted message on a wheely bin on the camino in Spain as I walked towards Santiago de Compostella "DON'T FORGET TO GO HOME".
